Back when I used to spend a lot more time in Millbrae, I always thought the Asian food options around Broadway were pretty decent. Not amazing, but certainly not bad either. Coming back to the area now, though, it seems like the options have gotten more interesting, albeit somewhat redundant. In the years since, several of the places I used to frequent have come and gone with several being replaced by one of the many Chinese noodle joints that have opened up. Not that I mind, to be clear - who doesn't love a good bowl of noodle soup? Especially when it's of the hand pulled variety! Taking over 100% Healthy Dessert's old spot (which really wasn't 100% healthy...), Jinweide Lanzhou is far busier than its predecessor ever was. Not only that, it's one of the busier restaurants around downtown. It's easy to see why, though - the menu here may not be the most extensive, but it's interesting. While the hand pulled noodles are clearly the thing to get, several of the noodle soups they come in, as well as their dumplings, buns, and a bunch of their starters/sides (lamb skewers, lamb chops, pork ribs) looked awesome! -- TRADITIONAL HAND PULLED NOODLES...$12.98 It looked kind of generic, but this was great. The noodles had a very nice bite and I liked how the slices of beef weren't super lean nor overly fatty. As for the soup, it was flavorful yet light and not all that oily. Solid. -- BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP...$15.98 Similar to the Hand Pulled Noodles, but way better! The noodles were just as terrific, and I loved how tender the beef was, but the broth was my favorite part of this - not all that salty and loaded with flavor, thanks to all of the chili oil. -- PAN FRIED BUNS...$8.98 Honestly, we didn't care much for these at all. I'm not sure what the bigger issue was - the filling or the bun. The former tasted okay, but it lacked juiciness; the latter was soft, but was very bready and was sprinkled with salt. -- STEWED PORK RIBS NOODLE SOUP...$14.98 Ehh...not bad, but not great either. The noodles were still just as good and I liked that the soup had a slight kick to it. However, there wasn't much meat on the ribs and they didn't taste like much. Stick with either of the beef noodles. -- LAMB SKEWERS...$7.98 Pretty decent overall. While I wish the lamb had been bit meatier, each chunk was juicy, super moist, and really well seasoned. I also love how there wasn't any gaminess to the meat, but I do wish it the lamb had some char on it. Along with how solid the food is, the other thing that I liked about Jinweide Lanzhou is how convenient it is. Each time I've been here, parking has been a breeze, they've always had seating immediately available, and dishes have come out relatively fast. Plus, the workers have been friendly and quite attentive, whether it be with refilling our drinks or getting us extra bowls so we could share food before we even had a chance to ask. Given how there are so many hand pulled noodle places around these days, I can't say how this place stacks up to the others. However, what I've tried so far has been pretty satisfying, save for the pan fried buns, and I'd still like to try a few other things, like their other varieties of noodles, their beef ribs, and their pork and cabbage dumplings, which were sold out the last time I was here. So, while I'd probably look to try some of those other spots first, I'll probably be back at some point or another to try more of what Jinweide Lanzhou has to offer.

DEF recommend the lamb skewers; tender and very delicious Had the oil-spoil noodles, perfect amount of oil crisps and hotness. Noodles were made to perfection. Service was also extremely quick.

The interior is nice and clean, and it was quite popular when we went! You order off a QR code on the menu, and they serve the food super quickly. The beef tongue was an amazing appetizer. Similar to the traditional beef slices, it's paired with some tendons and other spicy ingredients. I really enjoyed the noodles as well. They were not too thick, and had just the right amount flavor. You can't go wrong here!
